ALEXANDRIA, Va., and LAWRENCEVILLE,
N.J., June 10, 2002 -
UCCnet, a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization that provides
item registry and data synchronization services based on industry
developed standards, and the WorldWide Retail Exchange (WWRE®),
the premier business-to-business exchange for retailers, manufacturers
and suppliers, announced today that the WWRE has signed a Preferred
Alliance Partner agreement with UCCnet.
Under the terms of the agreement - which focuses on driving
adoption of complementary offerings and developing solutions
that are compliant with EAN.UCC standards -- participating retailers
and suppliers will have a solution that delivers a single global
connection to the majority of their trading partners. Together,
UCCnet and the WWRE's WorldWide Item Management (WIM) solutions
are a comprehensive set of tools and formalized processes and
services that enable WWRE members to better manage their product
data.
"If UCCnet is the first step your company can take towards
unprecedented market visibility for products in the retail and
CPG industry, then we're your on-ramp to that step," said
Colin Dyer, CEO of the WWRE. "The WWRE/UCCnet agreement
provides our members and their trading partners with a single
point of access to the most up-to-date, quality data available
today."
When industry standards are in place, UCCnet's GLOBALregistry
will continue to serve as the repository for registered item
information, and companies will be able to select the data synchronization
provider that best meets their unique needs. To support this
role, UCCnet has made the necessary technological and financial
accommodations to enable participants to pay solely for a UCCnet
GLOBALregistry subscription, without its data synchronization
services.
"What the WWRE is delivering to the industry is the quickest,
lowest cost synchronization on-ramp for suppliers, and in turn,
the most complete, standards compliant data to its members.
WWRE's platform enables synchronization across broad industry
verticals and geographic boundaries," said Michel Eeckhout,
CIO for Delhaize Group.
"UCCnet's model and vision have always centered on the
ability to provide an interoperable model for standards based
services that would benefit the entire industry," said
Paul Benchener, President and COO of UCCnet. "Through our
agreement, we are enabling WWRE members to connect with our
services in a flexible manner, thus providing added value and
another path for the industry to engage with standards-based
e-commerce."
