ALEXANDRIA, Va. (May 28, 2002)
- The WorldWide Retail Exchange (WWRE), the premier business-to-business
exchange for retailers, manufacturers and suppliers, today announced
the launch of its e-learning powerhouse, WWRE® University.
This is the first on-line education initiative for the retail
industry - designed exclusively to fast-track adoption of WWRE®
applications and solutions. It puts learning and interactive knowledge
sharing into the hands of the members, for them to manage and
control on their own terms.
"Each JC Penney associate, who requires training and refresher
materials on any WWRE® solution, can customize their personal
site according to their particular needs and availability,"
said Pat Adams, manager of business-to-business at JC Penney.
"This is a true added-value business solution that will
bring participating members a faster return on their investment
in the WWRE."
"The WWRE® University will enable our employees and
their trading partners to take advantage of multilingual training
materials, access to WWRE experts on-line, chat rooms and a
point of contact, all available whenever they want it, and aimed
at delivering a consistent educational experience across all
audiences," said Cenk Gurol, B2B strategic initiative manager
at AEON Group.
The WWRE® University offers users online course registration,
career development tools, training materials and logistics for
instructor-led training events, tracking of student progression,
"Ask the Expert" capabilities and quick reference
guides for each WWRE® solution - all so that continued learning
is as accurate and individualized as possible.
Donna Dibartolomeo, Director of Customer Support for the WWRE,
further explained, "This total web based solution is guided
by basic principles of adult education and offers an interactive,
self-paced, personalized site for each user. Web-based materials
and solutions enable members to use existing hardware to avoid
installation time as well as minimize non-instructional costs
such as travel and lodging. The globalization of content, applied
consistently across a member organization, will significantly
reduce usage errors and increase the speed of adoption."
Supported by Click2learn's Aspen Enterprise Learning Platform,
WWRE members are allowed to register an unlimited number of
users to the University. All programs are available twenty-four
hours a day, seven days a week. The University's next phase
of functionality, expected to begin in the fourth quarter of
2002, will include interface translation, prioritization of
training materials for translation and the conversion of current
manual-based courses into self-paced, interactive e-learning.
