Cora, RadioShack Corporation and Schlecker Join WorldWide Retail Exchange


With 35 Members, Combined Sales Total $553 Billion

LONDON AND MINNEAPOLIS (August 31, 2000) -- The WorldWide Retail Exchange (WWRE), the world's leading retail e-marketplace, today announced that Cora, a leading Belgian and French retailer; RadioShack Corporation, a U.S.-based electronics retailer; and Schlecker, a drug store chain based in Germany, are joining the Exchange.

"The WWRE continues to build momentum in the B2B retail marketplace," said Jerry Storch, head of marketing for the WWRE and president of financial services and new businesses at Target Corporation.

Barry Knichel, a WWRE operating committee member and director of supply chain research and development at Tesco, said, "As leaders in their respective markets, Cora, Schlecker and RadioShack strengthen the WWRE's reputation as the world's premier exchange for retailers and suppliers. Our members are working closely with suppliers to improve supply chain efficiencies."

The WWRE (www.worldwideretailexchange.org), which named Colin Dyer its new chief executive officer earlier this week, is a Web-based business-to-business exchange designed to facilitate and simplify trading between retailers and more than 100,000 suppliers, partners and distributors. Consisting of leading retailers from Africa, Asia, Europe and the United States, the WWRE is open to all suppliers and retailers who wish to use it. To date, the WWRE currently includes members who have combined sales of U.S. $553 billion or Euro 614 billion.

Schlecker employs 35,000 people in Europe and in 1999 had European-wide sales of U.S. $4.1 billion or Euro 4.5 billion.
