RFx delivers the capability to launch an online request for information,
quote, or proposal with real time tracking of supplier responses.
Future product releases will deliver seamless integration among
automated demand aggregation, auction execution, and bid analysis.
The RFx service offering will enable organizations to write, customize,
and send requests in standard formats. It will facilitate sourcing
activities such as defining selection criteria, retrieving/compiling
supplier information from a general database, and pre-selecting
a supplier or buyer shortlist. RFx will also provide for the acceptance
and analysis of supplier responses and facilitate the selection
process and subsequent communication of results.
The three RFx product offerings consist of the following:
- Request For
Information (RFI)
- An RFI is conducted to gather critical information about an
item from a selected group of suppliers. This information may
be returned with extensive attachments to provide supplementary
documentation to the person's request. The purpose of an RFI is
to gather as much information as possible about a particular product
or service.
- Request For
Quotation (RFQ)
- An RFQ is conducted to gather quotes on particular items and
compile a short list of suppliers. Once a buyer sends out an RFQ,
a potential supplier can provide as much information about a product
as it chooses. For some suppliers, this may include descriptive
product information, shipping rules, and other important attributes.
- Request For
Proposal (RFP)
- An RFP is conducted to gather additional information about an
item and attributes related to price and quantity. A potential
supplier will send back information in response to this RFP that
may lead to a negotiation between the buyer and supplier over
specific details of the proposal.
