Asian Supplier Sourcing
Program
WWRE
and Global Sources Ltd., a leading provider
of merchandise trade sourcing information,
have formed a strategic alliance to offer
a Supplier Sourcing Program for WWRE members
and Asian suppliers. The Supplier Sourcing
Program is specifically designed to give
fast, convenient access for WWRE members
to the Asian consumer product suppliers
in Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India
and other Asian countries.
The Asian Supplier Sourcing
program allows WWRE members to tap into the
electronically enabled Global Sources supplier
community. Merchandisers can immediately
conduct detailed discovery and pre-qualification
activities online, for the identification
and selection of Asian suppliers and their
products.
The Asian Supplier Sourcing program provides
WWRE members with a set of unique web-based
tools and services specifically geared to
facilitate the sourcing process. This process
includes the identification and qualification
of potential suppliers; definition of the
product to be purchased and agreement on
pricing and other specific terms and conditions
for an eventual purchase. These tools include
a Private Buyer Center, where retailers will
have access to all critical information needed
to support the sourcing process. Retailers
will be able to receive one-to-one private
offers from suppliers and can send and receive
sourcing documents such as a Request For
Quotation (RFQ) and Quotation.
The Program also offers value-added services
such as:
- An Approved Vendor program that will
help retailers electronically enable their
existing suppliers in Asia to allow for
a secure web-based trading environment;
- Premium support and training program
for suppliers supported by Global Sources'
extensive network of content management
offices and training centers in Asia;
- A
service to help retailers evaluate new
markets for suppliers and a service
to organize actual, private trade shows.
The Asian Supplier Sourcing Program will
be a critical element within the WWRE Category
Management and Sourcing Solutions offering.
It will offer the potential for WWRE Retail
Members to access over 120,000 suppliers
through a secure and easy-to-use web-based
sourcing center, product catalog and messaging
application.
WWRE members will benefit in several ways
by participating in this program:
- Automated sourcing processes through
the use of Internet-based technologies
can reduce sourcing cycles by an average
of 30% - Aberdeen Research
- Introduction or expanded reach into the
Asian supplier market previously restricted
due to a lack of resources, effective tools
and services.
- Electronic trade between buyers
and suppliers that had been manual, time

subject to error

- Reduced Agent/Broker
fees
